Mufti of Shkodra Sent to Turkey for COVID-19 Treatment

Muhamed Sytari, the Mufti of Shkodra has been transported to Turkey for urgent treatment for COVID-19.

Following his diagnosis, his condition deteriorated and his family took the decision to send him abroad. His father, who also had COVID-19 had also been sent to Turkey for treatment.

This is the latest in a ‘mass exodus’ of high-profile religious figures who have been sent out of Albania for treatment. Orthodox Archbishop Anastasios was sent to Greece, and Catholic Archbishop Frendo has gone to Italy.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama claims that Albanian healthcare for COVID-19 is on a par with these countries.
