356 Fines for Not Wearing Masks in 24 Hours

Police in Albania fined some 356 people for not complying with mandatory mask-wearing during the weekend.

They said that they noted a decrease in the number of people not complying with the rule. Most citizens both on Saturday and Sunday were wearing protective masks as required, they said.

A total of 356 administrative fines each with a value of 3000 ALL (EUR 24) was issued, totalling 1.06 million ALL (EUR 8,570).

It became mandatory to wear masks in public as of Thursday 15 October. This came after an increase in the number of recorded infections in the country. The number of new infections per day is increasing with 281 found yesterday.

There are currently 256 patients occupying around 500 beds, 25 are in intensive care and five are intubated.

There are some exemptions to the rules, you can read about them here.
