Over the weekend, State Police fined 688 people for not using masks in public.
Each fine was for 3000 ALL (EUR 25) which brings the total to 2.064 million ALL ( EUR 16,681).
The police reminded people that masks are mandatory from the moment they leave home, with a few exceptions. They noted that the majority of people were adhering to the protocols.
Out of those fined, 556 were found on the street and the remaining were those in vehicles not following the protocol. This included in private vehicles with non-family members and passengers in taxi’s without a mask.
13 citizens refused to show identification to the police or did not have it with them. These individuals were escorted to the police station, fined, and then released.
