300,000 COVID-19 Vaccines for Kosovo Secured

Kosovo has secured 300,000 doses of the forthcoming COVID-19 vaccine through an agreement with the World Health Organisation and the GAVI association.

Media in Kosovo said that WHO officials have agreed to provide vaccines for 20% of the population as soon as the vaccine is released. The first 300,000 doses will be free and the Ministry of Health will pay a further 1.2 million for more vaccines in order to vaccinate 70% of the population.

In Albania, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj said that if Prime Minister Edi Rama is reelected, he will bring the COVID-19 vaccine faster than anyone else. This, Veliaj said, is due to Rama having lots of friends.

There are currently over 100 different vaccines for COVID-19 being developed globally. 22 of these are in the clinical trial phase and are being worked on in collaboration between various countries, companies, and both public and private laboratories.
