The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku says that she has not followed the request of the incumbent President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani for the abolition of the toll on the Road of the Nation.
Balluku has ruled out the possibility of removing the toll arguing that it serves to maintain the road.
“The road has to be paid for because it has to be maintained. I did not follow the President’s request, but I understood that she was probably referring to the border toll…The aim of the Nation Road is not to separate us and Kosovars, but it is a highway that must be maintained. “, Said Balluku in an interview for ABC News .
During her official visit to Albania, President Osmani asked the Albanian state to remove the toll imposed on the Nation Road.
In her speech from Albanian Parliament, Osmani called the toll “a barrier in communication between the two countries that goes against the spirit of free movement and strengthening inter-Albanian relations.”
