Renowned Albanian Journalists Appeals for Vaccination

“The right time is not tomorrow. It was yesterday. It surely is today. Don’t hesitate to vaccinate.”

Jonida Shehu, the primetime news anchor of Albania’s ABC News appeals to everyone to get vaccinated, through a video message published on-line by Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirlliu.

Shehu lost her mother from Covid-19 complications a few weeks ago, and she laments in her message what would have happened if she were vaccinated, confiding that other family members who were vaccinated did not develop complications.

Ministry of Health has launched a public awareness campaign urging Albanian to vaccinate themselves.

Albania has a relatively low level of vaccination, with only about 38 percent of the population over 18 years old vaccinated.

Last week, the government decided the vaccination of children 12 years and older and a third booster dose.

Free vaccination is offered through the country. Health workers, high education staff are required to be vaccinated.
