The government of North Macedonia has announced it is ready to receive refugees from Ukraine if the situation there deteriorates further.
The government will offer its assistance in the event of escalations in Ukraine.
According to a government spokesperson, Prime Minister Kovačevski discussed the issue with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Anatoliyovych Shmyhal during a phone call on Wednesday.
At the press conference, journalists also asked whether North Macedonia will join the sanctions against Russia prepared by the EU and the United States.
“Northern Macedonia is in line to achieve 100% compliance with the foreign and security policy of the European Union. Regarding the EU sanctions package that is being announced, the government will further discuss and decide and the public will be informed about this,” the government spokesman announced.
