The Albanian Kastrati Group has acquired the majority of stakes in the company owning Euronews in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
One of the largest companies in Albania, Kastrati announced in a press release its acquisition of sixty per cent stakes of Intermedia Group which owns franchises for the three Western Balkan countries.
“Kastrati Group has officially become part of Intermedia Group today with 60% of shares, while 40% of shares remain with Theodori Cami,” the release states.
Euronews opened in Albania two years ago and is part of the European news network headquartered in Lyon, France. It is 88% owned by Portuguese investment management firm Alpac Capital. The CEO’s father, Mario David is a long-time associate and advisor to Hungarian leader Viktor Orban.
“The company known for its success in investing in various fields has extended its ambition to the media market by becoming the owner of the shares of one of the most successful televisions in Albania,” Kastrati Group promised.
They said they will invest in Euronews’ operations throughout the region and beyond.
“With this move, Kastrati Group aims at success as a media leader for the Albanian speaking territories,” the press release said.
Euronews Serbia is owned by Arena Channels Group, an LLC owned by state company Telekom Srbija.
Just last week, Balfin Group, owned by Saimir Mane, purchased 100% of the shares of Scan TV.
