More than 50,000 Romanians are protesting in the Romanian capital Bucharest against the government and its draft law that would decriminalize corruption for high officials.
Even though the Romanian government has decided to withdraw the draft law, the parliament still has not voted on it. According to political analyst Dan Ionescu, “There is a broken trust between the people and the ruling party and they are forced to invalidate this act, if they do it so, we will see the final reaction actually.”
The ruling coalition of Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu has the majority of the seats in the Romanian parliament, and many protesters are skeptical about whether the draft law will actually be voted down. They declare that the protests in the country will not stop until the government begins to work for the people and not against it.
