LSI Votes Today for the New Party Chair

The Socialist Movement for Integration will elect today its new Chair, following the election of Ilir Meta as President of the Republic and his resignation from the position of the Chair of LSI.

The National Convention of the LSI which is set to be convened today at 16:30 will vote on two proposals of the National Steering Committee: the election of Petrit Vasili as Chair and the election of Monika Kryemadhi as deputy Chairwoman.

During the convention is foreseen a speech by the Speaker of the Parliament, Ilir Meta, who will hold office until July 24, the day when the mandate of the new president begins.

Petrit Vasili’s candidacy, currently Minister of Justice and General Secretary of LSI, was proposed by Mr. Meta during the LSI National Steering Committee meeting on April 30th.

Meta asked the governing structures and LSI members to support Mr. Vasili as the Chair of this party.

“The orientation of the LSI towards the future and its function of young people is the guarantee that you and Petrit Vasili need in this election to achieve unimaginable success. Let’s give Petrit Vasili a chance to be the LSI’s number one! With your support he can become the head of the government,” Mr. Meta declared
