The Albanian government has announced measures to further ease lockdown measures in the next two weeks as part of its plan to reopen the country.
Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu announced the following measures:
18 new municipalities will add to the map of green areas or low-risk cities, from May 4: Tropoja, Rrogozina, Peqin, Belsh, Cërrik, Gramsh, Ura Vajgurore, Kucova, Berat, Poliçan, Skrapar, Devoll, Pustec, Maliq, Mallakastër, Kolonjë Vlora, and Selenica. These municipalities will have in place relatively more relaxed measures.
Intercity taxis will be allowed to operate with a maximum of two passengers from the same family, starting from May 4.
The government is also considering opening hair salons, barbershops, dental clinics and shopping malls on May 11. Use of private cars within cities could also be allowed by the same time. One week later bars and restaurants could open. This will depend on the number of cases of COVID-19, the number of hospitalisations and the number of those in intensive care.
Facilities offering other social, cultural and sports activities will continue to be closed indefinitely.
