During the third week of the election campaign, the political parties and their MP candidates continued their electoral meetings in several cities of Albania. Exit brings you a roundup of the key promises and comments made during yesterday’s meetings.
Socialist Party (PS)
- Political Leader in Gjirokastra MP candidate Bledi Çuçi held meetings in the villages of Lunxheria. Çuçi promised to continue supporting farmers with subsidies through a transparent scheme.
- PM Edi Rama held a meeting in Lezha with PS MPs candidates of this region. Rama said that Albania will become a net energy exporter, emphasizing that we will no longer spend any money on energy but will earn by selling it.
- Political leader in Lezha Lindita Nikolla stated that through voting PS the reconstruction work from the earthquake will continue. The third term will serve to continue justice reform as well.
- PS MP candidate in Shkodra Benet Beci said that the plan of PS is to implement a series of projects in the next term that will transform the entire area.
Democratic Party (PD)
- PD Chairman Lulzim Basha held several meetings in Tirana. He said that the need for people for change has crossed all boundaries of political affiliation. Basha said that Rama implied a grand coalition with PD the main opposition party which is a desperate act and they refused.
- Basha stated that the PD plan will low taxes, will have a business-friendly climate, security for foreign investors, and the return of hope to Albanian youth.
- MP candidate in Elbasan Zheni Gjergji said that PD objectives in Elbasan are to win 7 seats in the Assembly.
- MP candidate Helidon Bushati held a meeting with professors in Shkodra. He said that education is a focus of the PD program including a significant increase in teachers’ and professor’s salaries.
- MP candidate Grida Duma held meetings with doctors. She said that we are very worried about doctors’ departure from Albania.
Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI)
- LSI chairwoman Monika Kryemadhi held several meetings in Tirana on Thursday. During a meeting in Lapraka, she said that “no one can stop the path of change”
- MP candidate in Durres Enon Karapici held a meeting with the Durres Sailors Association and discussed their problems and needs.
Nisma Thurrje (NT)
- Political party Nisma Thurrje presented another of the 33 draft laws they are proposing which they intend to send to the Assembly if they are elected.
- They propose a space on the Assembly official website which can be used by voters to launch an official petition. In case an issue receives the support of 5000 voters, the assembly is obliged to include it in the agenda of the nearest meetings giving MPs the opportunity to discuss it in plenary session.
- NT presented MP candidate in Tirana Borana Tartari
Vetevendosje (VV)
- LVV activists were in Vora, Tirane. They met residents of the area, traders, entrepreneurs, workers, and farmers, to present the candidacy of Boiken Abazi running in Tirana and 13 points of their political program
- Abazi said that during the meetings with the residents we were closely aware of their problems and this encourages us to have their voice heard in Assembly.
- Lezha MP candidate Iliaz Shehu held a meeting with British Ambassador Duncan Norman. They discussed protests in Miredia supported by LVV activists, police pressures, program points, and capacities.
Independent Candidate
- Independent Candidate for Dibra, Elton Debreshi met members of Oilmen’s Union on Thursday.
- Debreshi said that the miners of Bulqiza and the oilmen of Ballsh are workers who have given a lot to Albania, in exchange they have received only discrimination and poverty.
- Debreshi also said that “Miner Status” will provide higher salaries and pensions, rights, and opportunities for thousands of miner families.
