Teenagers over 16 and children over 12 with health issues will be vaccinated, and those over 60 will receive boosters, announced the Technical Committee of Experts on Friday.
The committee said that vaccination efforts would continue in all age groups, particularly students.
They added that those over 60 and youngsters who meet the relevant criteria could get the vaccine or booster from 1 November. Children will require the permission of parents and the recommendation of a pediatrician.
Some 2.2 million vaccines have arrived in Albania, and more than 1.8 million have been given, 900,000 of which are first doses. Coverage in the 18-25 age group is increasing, although it remains lower than others.
Despite a slight increase in cases, the committee decided to keep current COVID-19 measures in place. These include a curfew between 11 pm and 6 am, wearing masks indoors, and some restrictions on the sizes of gatherings. Those entering the country will require a vaccine certificate, serological test, or negative PCR.
