Albania Coronavirus Update, 2 April: 16 Dead, 277 Cases, 76 Cured

A 78-year-old man infected with Covid-19 has died in Albania on Thursday, bringing the toll to 16 deaths. He had been intubated for 3 days and reportedly suffered from another illness.

The number of diagnosed cases of Coronavirus in Albania has reached 277 today. This is an increase of 18 new cases in the last 24 hours, following 96 tests on suspected cases.

Eight of the infected are children, all in stable condition.

According to authorities, there have been 1919 cases tested so far with 277 confirmed. 76 patients were cured, 82 are hospitalized, 8 are under intensive care and 4 are intubated.

The rest remain in home in self-isolation and are considered to be in a stable condition.

The average age of those suffering with the disease is 50.

The geographical distribution of cases is as follows: Tirana (143, including 7 deaths), Durres (30, including 3 deaths), Lushnje (4, including one dead), Elbasan (8), Fier (23, including one dead), Kavaja (6, including two dead), Rrogozhina (2), Korca (16), Vlora (5, including one dead): 5 Shkodra (10), Lezha (6), Berat (1), Has (8, including one dead), Kruja (5), Tropoja (4), Puka (4), Mirdita (2).

The Ministry called on citizens to remain at home and to call 127 if they suspect they have any symptoms of Coronavirus.
