Albanian television channels that repeatedly violate social distancing regulations between guests in their studios risk getting shut down.
On May 20, Prime Minister Edi Rama approved several changes to the coronavirus pandemic normative act that would increase penalties for television channels.
According to these changes, audiovisual transmissions wherein people fail to maintain a 2 meter distance between them will incur a €8,000 (1 million ALL) fine.
If this is a repeated offence, the audiovisual media entity may also be partially or entirely shut down.
These changes come a few days after Albania’s National Health Inspectorate (IShSh) demanded the shutdown of Ora Radio and Television’s (Ora RTV) due to their alleged violation of government instructions allowing only two guests in TV studios.
