Albanian authorities have detected 28 people who were re-infected with COVID-19.
The news was announced by Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu on Thursday.
She clarified that a reinfection is when a person gets infected at least three months after having tested positive with the virus and then recovered.
The minister confirmed the presence of the so-called “British variant” of COVID-19 in the country.
There are currently 35,181 active cases in Albania, while 115,442 have been infected and 2002 lost their lives. Only 22,693 people have received at least one vaccine shot.
A curfew is in place in Albanian during 20:00 to 06:00. It is also mandatory to wear a mask and keep social distancing to reduce the risk of virus transmission. Gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited.
