Albania Sends 30 Doctors and Nurses to Italy to Fight Covid-19

The Albanian government has sent 30 medical doctors and nurses to assist their colleagues in Italy, in response to its neighbor’s call for aid amidst the coronavirus epidemic.

They arrived in Rome on Saturday morning and will be transferred to Bergamo, the city hit worst by the epidemic.

Albanian doctors and nurses will work alongside Italian doctors for a month and will be paid by the Albanian government.

The news was reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Their dispatch to Italy was agreed between Prime Minister Edi Rama and Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio one day before, on Friday.

Italy has the highest coronavirus-related death toll in the world so far: 9134 people.
