Albania Signs Extradition Treaty with Spain

The Albanian Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, announced that Albania and Spain have signed an extradition treaty.

In a statement to the press, Manja said that the agreement removes a barrier to extradition that prohibited Albania from extraditing Albanian citizens accused of a crime to Spain and vice-versa.

According to Manja, this means Albanian criminals will no longer be able to hide in Albania.

In July 2021, 107 people were arrested in Spain as part of a multinational anti-cannabis operation targeting an Albanian criminal group. Several Albanians were among the arrested.
