All foreign residents in possession of a valid residence permit can now apply for a Biometric ID Card.
According to the Albanian Ministry of Interior, a Biometric ID Card will enable foreign residents to register on the government’s e-Albania portal and access a number of services online.
Through e-Albania, users can download digital vaccination certificates, receive proof of their social security contributions, among others.
Eligible residents can buy a coupon at the nearest post office and then appear in person at an ALEAT branch to apply for the card.
Minister of Interior Bledi Cuçi said that foreigners wishing to reside in Albania will only need to register once with Border and Migration Directorate and all other procedures will be done electronically.
