On Friday, Albania welcomed the first foreign tourists for the summer season following a long lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A “Belavia” charter plane landing at Tirana airport brought the first 192 tourists from Belarus, local media reported.
Tourism in Albania is expected to be hit hard as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the industry’s calls and protests, the government does not have a clear plan to support it from bankruptcy.
Albania currently has open borders with all countries in the region, although the number of Covid-19 cases has increased in the last weeks.
