A further eight cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the overall total to 850.
According to the Ministry of Health, 238 tests were carried out over the last 24 hours, and eight were found to be positive. The new cases are located in Tirana (3), Kruja (2), Shkodra (1), Fier (1) and Kamza (1).
18 tests were carried out on medical personnel at the Neurosurgery Department at the QSUT, but all tested negative. To date, 11.2% of medical staff have tested positive for COVID-19/
The number of deaths remains at 31.
The Ministry said they have tripled the number of tests in the last month and more than 10,000 have been conducted so far. The total number of those that have recovered from the virus is 620 and there are 199 active cases.
In the Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital and the Infectious Diseases Hospital, there are 30 inpatients, five of which are in intensive care.
Serological testing for ‘at-risk’ groups is ongoing at the Laboratory of Microbiology at QSUT.The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana 93, Kruja 62, Shkodra 17, Kamëz 9, Kurbin 4, Fier 4, Elbasan 3, Mirditë 2, Bera 2, Durrës 1, Korçë 1, Lezhë 1.
The Ministry called on people to be cautious, take precautions, and respect ongoing measures.
“Dear citizens, regardless of the encouraging situation, and the functioning of the reopening strategy, the facilitation of measures will depend on you. You will be responsible by respecting physical distance, combined with respiratory and personal hygiene measures, not visiting relatives for any reason, businesses must implement strict protocols, and we will proceed with the gradual easing of measures according to approved strategy.”
