Albania is asking NATO for donations in medical supplies necessary to battle COVID-19.
On March 27, the Albanian government requested aid in medical equipment (800 ventilators and 500 monitors) and personal protective equipment (masks and disposable clothes).
The government wrote in the official request that the state of natural disaster emergency has been declared in the country, and that it is preparing more designated spaces for quarantine and treatment. For this, the government has asked NATO for 500 beds.
Per the data from March 9 to March 27, the rate of coronavirus infection in Albania is 6 in 100,000, whereas in Tirana the rate goes up nearly thrice, to 17 infected cases per 100,000 people.
North Macedonia and Montenegro have also requested aid in medical supplies from NATO.
