The Albanian government will receive EUR 60 million in loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and EUR 40 million in grants from the EU to invest in tourism.
In a virtual meeting, Rama, together with the EBRD President and Ambassador Soreca, signed two financing agreements for the development of tourism and infrastructure in Shkodra, Berat, Fier and Gjirokastra.
Rama thanked the EBRD and the EU for the assistance and stressed that the EBRD will help the country and absorb as much investment as possible from the EU package for the Western Balkans:
“There is an extraordinary commitment from the EU and the commission to help Albania and the region based on the vision of a common regional market, to invest in such volumes that can completely change the landscape by investing in transport.
“We need your expertise because we already have a challenge and we need to have good projects to meet the standards set by the EU.”
