Albanian customs have seized some 636,000 packets of contraband cigarettes with an unpaid customs duty totalling around 100 million ALL (EUR 806,555).
Authorities announce that they seized a trailer containing the cigarettes at the Hani i Hotit border crossing with Macedonia. The cigarettes were missing the excise stamp.
“After a risk analysis and reasonable suspicions, on the data of the accompanying documentation of a consignment of cigarette packs arrived at the Customs Branch of Hani Hoti, Shkodra, from Montenegro, they exercised control over the vehicle type trailer with Bulgarian license plates, which has entered the Albanian customs territory from Montenegro “, it is said in the announcement.
The case has been referred to the prosecutor’s office in Shkodra.
