The Albanian government will loosen restrictive measures against the spread of coronavirus starting from next week and it will toughen penalties for violators.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the daily time period for going out to buy food will be extended but violators could face jail time.
Under current restriction, one person per family can go out from 5am to 1pm, for one hour only and after taking permission online. Violators face fines.
Cars will also be allowed for employees of private companies only for driving to work and back.
Some shops will also be allowed to open, with requirements for staff to wear face masks and gloves.
Rama did not reveal more details on the expected loosened restrictions but he emphasized that the government will toughen penalties for violators.
