During March and April 2020, the Confederation of Albanian Industries, Konfindustria Albania, has suffered $2 billion in losses due to coronavirus preventative measures.
Konfindustria administrator Gjergj Buxhuku said that if restrictions continue, the local industry would suffer even more and losses would deepen.
He also asserted that Albania has seen the most economic loss in the region, despite the fact that the consequences of the pandemic were not very harsh. He claimed that EU countries who were affected by the pandemic at a larger scale than Albania, implemented much lighter preventative measures and began reopening earlier.
Buxhuku appealed to the the government to bring the country’s economy back to normality as soon as possible.
