Police arrested two people for transporting 25 illegal migrants from the south-eastern city of Korça to capital Tirana. A third suspect is on the run.
A Sunday police statement said the suspected smugglers had planned to take the migrants to the north-western border with Montenegro.
Police arrested A. K., 19, from Shkodër, and L. B., 26, while E. Sh., 27, from Tirana is still on the run.
The case is being investigated by the Korça prosecutor’s office.
Police have reported several arrests of persons aiding transportation of illegal migrants during the summer.
