Albanian President Ilir Meta asked the government to draft a concrete plan for the recovery of the country’s economy following the coronavirus pandemic as soon as possible.
Meta said that EBRD’s concerning forecast of a 9% shrink of the Albanian economy in 2020 demonstrates the economy’s deep structural crisis.
The President stressed that the Albanian economy must undergo diversification in order to lower the danger of crisis and to ensure stable economic development.
Some of his concrete proposals for economic recovery included an increase in energy production; industrial, agricultural, and agro-industrial production; increasing the role of mineral and natural resources in the economy; extending the capacity of ports and transport networks, and the long-term empowerment of tourism.
