Albanian President Calls Out State Attorney for Failure to Provide Information on Arbitration

President Ilir Meta asked the State Attorney’s Office for information on arbitration cases against Albania.

In a request addressed to the State Advocacy, Meta stated that even though three months and 15 days have passed since his request, he has not yet received a response, warning a report against the state attorney for abuse of office.

“It has been a full 3 months and 15 days without any answer! With the letter no. prot. 2391/1, dated 14.09.2020, You have been asked for the second time to forward the information requested 3 months ago, on pending issues and decisions of arbitration courts where the Albanian state is a party.

In this second letter, you are given a 4-day working period to forward the requested information.

The Institution of the President of the Republic declares that it will take all legal steps to refer the case of abuse of office to law enforcement agencies, for each of the persons who by actions or omissions, has become an obstacle to providing this information, and who is creating even more very reasonable conviction based on evidence and law that efforts are being made to cover up other punishable actions that have caused significant financial damage to the Albanian state. ”

Meta also called on the Ministry of Economy to inform about the obligations that the Albanian state has in arbitration.
