President Ilir Meta has sent the 2021 budget bill back to parliament to be reviewed.
According to the president, the proportion of the annual budget intended to handle the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences is not sufficient.
The 2021 budget additionally failed to include relief measures for local production and businesses, who suffered the loss of 50 thousand jobs during the pandemic.
“The government could have planned to delay pay installments for public-private partnerships and increased support for the social groups that suffered the most,” the presidential announcement said.
Furthermore, in 2021, budgetary subsidies for public-private partnership projects will increase nearly twofold, from 7.9 billion ALL to 14.5 billion ALL.
