Albanian President Welcomes Very First Ukrainian Ambassador to Tirana

President Ilir Meta has welcomed the very first Ambassador of Ukraine, to Albania.

Yesterday he received Volodymyr Shkurov who presented Meta with his Letters of Credence. The first Ambassador to be resident in Tirana, Meta said it was a “historical event for the relations between our two countries.”

He assured the Ambassador of the country’s clear and unwavering position in defence of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. Meta said that relations between the two countries are currently quite good but there is room to develop them more, particularly in terms of economic and trade cooperation.

Meta thanked the Ukrainian authorities for addressing issues related to the preservation and development of the national identity of the Albanian community in the Odessa region. He conveyed his greetings to President Zelensky and expressed the desire to receive him on an official visit to Albania.
