In yesterday’s Facebook video dispatch, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced an extended financial plan to handle the coronavirus pandemic.
This extended plan will provide economic relief to 176,000 workers Rama claimed. It will come as a one time payment for 10,000 tourism workers, 66,000 workers who have left or been suspended by big business, and 100,000 small business workers who had small turnovers and did not profit from the first government economic relief plan.
The government has reserved $70 million in funds for this extended plan. Each individual in the above categories will receive a one-time payment of 40.000 ALL ($345) starting from April 20.
Rama also added that the tourism industry and manufacturing businesses would be able to benefit from a $150 million sovereign guarantee and push paying their profit taxes until after December 31.
The Prime Minister’s video did not specify which 10,000 tourism workers would receive this one-time payment, seeing as the tourism industry in Albania employed over 254,000 people in 2019.
