The Albanian government has confirmed that there are no plans to close schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a press conference this morning, the Committee of Experts on COVID-19 said that schools will continue to stay open while tuition for university students will take place online.
Mira Rakacolli said that since schools opened on 14 September, the number of infections that are traced to schools has not increased. Therefore, she said, they do not need to close.
“During these two months, there has been no significant change in the impact that the opening of schools has had on the aggravation of the pandemic.”
Speaking about universities, Mira Rakacoll said:
“There is a slight aggravation of the situation, but it is under control. Tuition at universities will continue online for a period depending on the announcement we make.
