Albanian weightlifter, Evangjeli Veli has won gold in the women’s European Weightlifting Championships in the category of 55kg.
She won first place in the women’s 55kg Snatch round with a lift of 95kg with Ukrainian Kamila Konotop coming in second place.
In the women’s 55kg Clean & Jerk, Veli scored a bronze metal lifting 113kg. But her biggest victory was coming first in the women’s 55kg Total where she lifted 208kg, winning her another gold.
Veli has also competed at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in the women’s 53kg where she finished in eighth place.
Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated Veli for her success and published a video of her victory.

Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj also congratulated her, noting that she is making the country proud.
The event is taking place in Tirana, at the city’s Olympic Park.
