Tragedy struck in Gramsh earlier this week when lightning hit a herd of goats and sheep, killing 165 of them and leaving their owner destitute, but citizens have started donating to help him buy a new flock.
The incident occurred during a severe thunder and lightning storm and impacted the livelihood of shepherd Skender Shuli who escaped without injury.
While he may not have been hurt physically, Shuli’s sole source of income and sustenance is now jeopardised.
“Today, the lightning didn’t just hit my herd, but the whole family”, Shuli told the media.
With tears in his eyes, he appealed for government help, adding that his family now has just six cattle to survive on.
Residents from the local area rallied to bury the animals. Shuli did not attend as a family member said he was in a distressed psychological state.
Citizens have rallied together to donate to their family to help them purchase more animals. Shuli’s son can be contacted on 0355685897063.
