The Albanian President Ilir Meta has decreed that 25 April 2021 will be the date of the parliamentary elections.
On that date, Albanian’s will head to the polls to decide the government that will lead the country for the following four years.
The decision was taken by Meta following consultations with leaders of political parties. The opposition suggested 18 April and the majority said they were happy to give any date determined by the President except 2 May, Orthodox Easter.
Incumbent Prime Minister Edi Rama will run for a third term and Chairman of the Opposition Party Lulzim Basha is the main opposition.
