Another Arrest for Illegal Transport of Foreign Nationals in Albania

A 38-year-old man from Kukes has been arrested by State Police for transporting six illegal immigrants and driving with a license that police believe is forged.

Authorities in Korca in cooperation with the Border Police and the Traffic Police, apprehended the vehicle for providing assistance to foreign nationals by illegally transporting them for profit. The aim is to send them onwards to EU countries.

The individual was stopped near the village of Geshtenjas near Pogradec. He was found with six immigrants in his car who he had promised border crossing in return for money.

A part of an operation codenamed “Perimeter”, this is the latest in a significant number of similar arrests in the country.
