Ballsh oil workers are continuing their hunger strike for the second day in a row. They said they would continue to protest and remain on hunger strike until the company paid their arrears.
“If our conditions are not met, we will die here. We have no way to return home empty handed. What will we bring to the children, they want to eat,” the protesters told Balkanweb.
This is the oil workers’ second strike in a year.
In February 2020, oil workers went on hunger strike for arrears of wages but agreed to return to work when it was announced that a new company would take over the management of the refinery and that an opportunity would be found to pay the arrears. This did not happen.
