The oil workers of the Ballsh refinery will receive 40,000 ALL per month (EUR 360) payment each month for a year. These salaries will be paid from the fund provided for the COVID-19 pandemic. This is according to the government decision approved on Wednesday, published on the official website of the prime minister.
The decision stipulates that oil workers will fill out the same documents as those who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. The assessment for the benefit of the salary will be performed by the Tax Directorate within 5 days from the completion of the form.
This decision will cost the government about EUR 4 million. This money will be received from the fund for the provision of financial assistance under the relevant packages to cope with the situation created by COVID-19.
The Ballsh oil workers had been on hunger strike for a combined 44 days before the deal was negotiated with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
