In a Facebook post, opposition leader Lulzim Basha yesterday introduced his initiative “Propose your deputy,” declaring that the inclusion of citizens in the process of the selection of candidate deputies is the only way to exercise self-government in the face of a “small group of people who control the wealth and all the political and economical power in the country, while the majority of Albanians is mostly powerless, hopeless, and poor.”
From the proposition made by both party members and ordinary citizens, the Democratic Party will draft a list with candidate deputies. These will undergo a vetting process of their professionalism, background, and role in the former communist regime.
