Besiana Kadare, the daughter of famous Albanian writer Ismail Kadare, has been elected as the Vice-President for the 75th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
Kadare said it was an extraordinary privilege and responsibility to hold such a prestigious post. She added that Albania will represent Eastern Europe at the UN, including the Balkans, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Armenia.

Via Twitter, Kadare also expressed that she was looking forward to working with Turkish diplomat Volkan Bozkir who was elected as the President of the General Assembly.
President Ilir Meta welcomed her appointment, stating that it was a good opportunity for Albania to have a dignified representation at the important institution.
“Albania’s appointment to hold the post of Vice President for the 75th SEssion of the General Assembly of the United Nations is a very good opportunity for the dignified representation of our country in this very important world institution. I wish a lot of success to Ambassador Besiana Kadare in performing this duty and for the big responsibility she has,” he said.
