Libra leader Ben Blushi has today invited opposition leader Lulzim Basha and Speaker of Parliament Ilir Meta to propose a motion of distrust against Prime Minister Edi Rama. In a Facebook post Blushi wrote:
I invite Lulzim Basha and Ilir Meta for a motion. Renaissance [sc. the Socialist Party] has not more than 60 mandates in Parliament, which means that the other parties have at least 80 mandates. So if the PD is interested to remove the Renaissance from government and the LSI is interested to remove the PD from its tent, there are the votes for a motion of distrust against Edi Rama.
Blushi’s proposal comes after the failure of the negotiations between the government of the opposition, mediated by two Members of European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein and David McAllister.
This is the second time in a month that Blushi makes his proposal, which so far has received no response from either the LSI or PD.
According the Constitution, one-fifth of the deputies in Parliament may propose a motion of distrust against the sitting Prime Minister, by proposing a different candidate for the function. The motion is passed with a majority of 71 votes.
In his repeated calls, Blushi failed to propose any other candidate for Prime Minister Rama’s post.
