The British Embassy in Kosovo has called on the country’s institutions to prioritize the pandemic and avoid “political maneuvering” in favor of domestic and regional cooperation.
The embassy’s statement advised all sides to respect the Constitution in steps to be taken following the ousting of the Kurti government. I also urged for the incumbent or new government to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives during the coronavirus crisis.
The embassy congratulated the lifting of the tariffs on Serbian goods, implemented by Kosovo’s incumbent government, and encouraged the continuation of EU-facilitated dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, underlying that such a dialogue will be useful in settling other grievances between the two countries, as well.
Today’s statement came before President Hashim Thaçi gave Kurti’s Lëvizja Vetëvendosje party a mandate to form a new government, after the incumbent government was ousted last week.
