Citizens Protest in Tirana Over Children Stuck in Syria Camps

Dozens of people protested in the centre of Tirana yesterday for the cause of the 50 Albania children that remain in camps in Syria.

They congregated in from of the Prime Minister’s office and included the family members of women and children that are currently in the Al-Hael camp in Syria. They have urged the government to formally intervene with the Syrian authorities to ensure their safe return.

One of those in attendance told the media:

“Every government and every media has a responsibility to its citizens. I pray to God that all these family members, brothers, and sisters who have remained in Syria, return to their homes.”

Earlier, relatives of two children aged 5 and 8, asked the government to intervene to enable their repatriation from the Al Hooti camp. The children’s uncle has offered to pay for all the travel expenses for returning them but is asking for the government’s assistance in mediating it.
