The Constitutional Court has dismissed former Mayor of Kavaja Elvis Rroshi’s claim that the decision to relieve him of his mandate as mayor as a result of lying on his decriminalization self-declaration form was unconstitutional.
Even though Rroshi had been without mandate since December 29, 2016, he has appeared in public with members of the government and signed official letters in his former capacity of mayor.
Rroshi had failed to mention on his self-declaration form that he had been convicted in Italy for group rape, as well as drug trafficking and money laundering.
In spite of the removal of his mandate, which has now become irrevocable, Rroshi is expected to play a major role in the upcoming election campaign of the Socialist Party.
