A 35-year-old construction worker passed away on May 21 after falling off of a high scaffold upon which he was working in Tirana’s New Ring Road areas, known as Astir.
The police arrested the construction company’s engineer and administrator as there are suspicions safety work regulations had been violated.
This is the fifth construction accident that has ended in a worker’s death this year.
A total of 34 workers were killed at work between January and November 2019, 15 of which worked in construction, making the industry Albania’s most dangerous.
