Croatia: Albania Must Stop Adriatic Sea Pollution

Preservation of the Adriatic Sea and other ecological issues are requirements Albania has to fulfill on its way to EU membership, declared Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Marija Pejčinović Burić, during a formal meeting with Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati.

“We share a sea that needs us,” stated the Croatian minister, adding that the Adriatic sea has great tourism potential.

She stressed the call for Albania to halt the Adriatic pollution, expressing concern about how that affected Croatia’s coasts.

Pejčinović Burić declared that relations between the two countries must be further strengthened through infrastructural, air travel, and energy investments.

Regarding the Adriatic–Ionian connecting corridor, she emphasized the fact that the Croatian segment has already been built. In 2017, Albania failed to secure any international investments for its part of the corridor.
