After a week of protest by the opposition in the tent in front of the Prime Ministry, they have been joined by representatives of the business community and miners.
Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha said that the miners are one of the groups that are most exploited by the oligarchs that have taken the economy hostage, while at the same time being the most underpaid and performing the most dangerous work.
The miners are exploited every day by the oligarchs and the government. They are at risk and underpaid. It is a wound of society that needs to be cured as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the opposition representatives of the business community stated that the Rama Government is making their survival on the market every day more difficult, with high taxes, corruption, and state violence.
Business, citizens, and the people are out of patience. Rama calls in four or five oligarchs for every tender, for every concession, for every natural resource, and together they divide the spoils of power, together they divide the wealth of the country, while the majority of the Albanians is wallowing in poverty.
Three days ago, the opposition protest was joined by the oil workers from Fier, Ballsh, and Patos, who haven’t been paid for months. Yesterday evening, artists and intellectuals spoke about injustice, pressure, and insecurity at the workplace.
Basha has stated that the protest in front of the Prime Ministry will only end with the installation of a caretaker government to guarantee free and fair elections.
During a meeting with the regional branches of the PD, Basha discussed the strategy of expanding the protest to several other cities besides Tirana.
