Around 400 officials are currently under investigation by the prosecution, as a result of doubts about hiding former convictions from the decriminalization self-declaration form.
The prosecution has announced that the official under investigation belong to different levels of the public administration, such as high officials, directors, and executive employees.
Among 10 cases of high officials, 4 are being investigated for the criminal offences of “falsification of seals, stamps, and forms.”
In case the investigations will uncover violations of the decriminalization law, the prosecution will request the suspension of the mandate or annulment of the labor contract. Until now, the activities of the prosecution in the context of the decriminalization law has led to the removal of the mandate of former Mayor of Kavaja Elvis Rroshi and two deputies Shkëlqim Selami and Dashamir Tahiri. Meanwhile, the prosecution has also demanded the removal of the mandate of mayors Tërmet Peçi and Adriatik Zotkaj. Several other deputies remain under investigation.
