Chairwoman of the EPP’s Women’s Forum Doris Pack declared today that the spread of cannabis across the country and incriminated figures in office pose a risk to Albania.
During a meeting in Brussels with Women’s Forum’s Board, Pack stated:
Albania is currently experiencing a real madness. The cannabis cultivation is spreading throughout the country, thus there’s a risk that Albania may turn into a main source of narcotics cultivation and smuggling. On the other side dozens of individuals with criminal records become part of the administration after paying large sums to Prime Minister, Edi Rama while the professionals are fired for their political beliefs.
This is the second time in a few months that Pack makes strong declarations about Albania. In February 2017, during a meeting in Kukës, Pack expressed her disappointment about the presence of incriminated deputies in Parliament and was surprised about the silence of the Rama government toward the explosive statements and accusations of former Minister of Justice Ylli Manjani.
Pack’s declarations arrive a few hours before European Parliament negotiators David McAllister and Knut Fleckenstein are expected to arrive in Tirana to meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Speaker of Parliament Ilir Meta, and opposition leader Lulzim Basha to discuss the possibility of an agreement to solve the current political crisis.
Doris Pack, like McAllister member of the EPP, also thanked the Rama government for its request to the EPP to solve the crisis.
